Vaccines, Variants, and Measured Expectations-A Question and Answer Session with Judith A. Aberg, MD, a Leader in Infectious Diseases at Mount Sinai | Mount Sinai Today
Will the U.S. be heading into normalcy in 2021? New variants of SARS-CoV-2 have found their way into the U.S. since the vaccine rollout started back in December. The question is, will the vaccines be effective in protecting us against these new variants? In general, it is important that the vast majority of people get the vaccine as soon as they are eligible to do so. As time goes on, more and more variants may be presented and it is evident that we are going to have to deal with them, one way or another. In the meantime, everyone needs to do their part in taking the precautions they have been and practicing safety measures, even once they’re vaccinated.
