Thinking About Flying? Here's What You Need to Know Now

Airplane travel is inching back, but staying safe remains a concern. Here's how to think about approaching a trip. On Friday, the Transportation Security Administration screened 348,673 people at American airports, the most since travel went into a free-fall in mid-March, likely driven by people traveling ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

If you are thinking about flying in the near future, it is important to consider the changes the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to air travel. There is no doubt that flying will be a very different experience than it was before the coronoavirus. When it comes to getting to the airport, the safest option would be to get a ride from someone you have been self-isolating with, however if that is not an option, car services such as Uber and Lyft are still operating. Those services, however, are taking preventative measures and are requiring all passengers and drivers to wear masks. When it comes to the airports themselves, you can preapre at home to minimize your risk. Most airlines are suggesting travelers download thier apps for touchless boarding, which will reduce contact between passengers and employees. In addition, bring hand sanitizer and wipes if possible, maintain social distancing practices when possible, and wear a mask in order to stay as safe as possible. Airports are doing their best to sanitize as much as possible and do their part as we navigate the new normal for air travel.
