India has seen a rise in cases of mucormycosis, better known as black fungus, in Covid-19 patients. This is a rare but potentially fatal infection that involves symptoms including nasal blockages, one-sided headaches, toothaches, and even loosening teeth. As it progresses, it can cause blackening over the nose and coughing up blood. This is greatly linked to diabetes and will be more progressive if the diabetes is unmanaged.
