As many states face major resurgences of the novel coronavirus, top infectious-disease official, Anthony S. Fauci has suggested that some states should seriously consider shutting down again. In a Wall Street Journal podcast, Fauci advised any states that are facing a problem to shut down. He resisted naming specific states, but he did offer praise to New York, who in Fauci’s words “did it and it worked.” Even though Fauci is a member of the White House coronavirus task force, his most recent warning conflicts with President Trump’s push to re-open the country.
