How do lateral-flow tests for covid-19 work?
60% of asymptomatic cases were missed when using antigen tests made by Innova Medical Group. PCR tests are much more effective for this but more complicated. Lateral-flow tests are used by swabbing out a sample of mucus from the nose or throat. It is then diluted in a solution. It sort of resembles a pregnancy test–– it changes color when an infection is present. Results are shown within minutes but unfortunately, scientists believe these aren't as reliable as other forms of tests.
