Young, Asymptomatic People Can Get Reinfected With COVID-19 and Spread it More Than Once, Study Shows | Mount Sinai Today
Many young, asymptomatic people may be putting others at risk when they are reinfected with the antibodies of SARS-CoV-2. A recent study done on Marine recruits showed that 18 percent of those with antibodies were at greater risk of infecting others due to reinfection than those without antibodies. Due to this finding, it is extremely important for those who are asymptomatic, to get the vaccine when they are eligible. Though given the shortage of the vaccine, it is difficult for the spreading of asymptomatic spreaders to stay controlled. Another thing to also keep in mind is that not everyone who’s had COVID-19 has built effective immunity in their bodies, this is why it is important for the majority of people to vaccinate, especially if they can.
